FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before starting your journey with Axeris.

Do I need any previous archery experience to enquire?

No prior experience is required. Beginners are welcome to enquire about training courses, which are designed to introduce safe shooting practice and basic technique.

Is membership open to everyone?

Ballands Bowmen is a welcoming club, but membership is selective and by invitation. This long-standing approach helps ensure safety, responsibility, and a positive environment for all members.

Do I need my own equipment to start?

No. All equipment is provided during beginners’ training courses. Members are advised to seek guidance from experienced club members before purchasing their own equipment.

When and where does the club train?

Training and practice sessions take place at a range of indoor and outdoor venues across Somerset and Wiltshire, depending on the time of year. Details are shared with members and course participants as appropriate.

Can junior archers join the club?

Junior archers are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or nominated responsible adult at all times, in line with club policy.

Does the club take part in competitions?

Yes. Ballands Bowmen hosts open field archery shoots during the season, and members may also compete in events organised under recognised archery associations once suitably experienced.
